Where did all the screensavers go?

Is anyone else old enough to remember when, in ye olde Internet days, you could search for, find, and download a screensaver for your computer? I had one that randomized different cityscapes and nature scenes (very similar to what Apple offers natively now) and one that rotated pictures from space taken by the Hubble Telescope. These days if I search “screensaver” I’m not really sure what sort of shopping recommendations I’m going to get, and I’ve been around the internet long enough to know not to just download any file I come across. So I’m not really trustworthy of finding screensavers the way I grew up searching for screensavers. Are they even still a thing or do people use the native screensaver settings on their computer? I have both a PC and a Mac so I understand the options on the Mac are WAY better. I just wish there was a way to safely browse and download screensavers for my PC that didn’t also install spyware, ransomeware and all kinds of fun bugs.
